For the people out there that actually have Vista (I know its 1% of the people in here, lol'd), Im putting together a small guide with tips and tricks to make life easier.

Disabling User-Account Control
Note: this affects the security level of Vista's built in security, so be careful!
User-Account Control (UAC), was put into Vista to improve security. It can be pretty annoying however, because it spams you with pop ups all the time when opening apps or even when just eating an apple.
Disabling UAC means this is no longer existent, but if you do not have sufficient anti-virus software, I strongly recommend leaving this option ON.
How to turn it off:
1. Select start
2. Get to configuration panel
3. Click "user accounts"
4. Get to the account that should be modified (your own I guess)
5. Click "Enable or Disable User-Account Control" (If thats the correct translation, lol)
6. Uncheck the box 'Use UAC to improve your PC security" (also freely translated..)
7. Click OK and reboot.

Improving system performance: disabling Windows Indexing Service
If you suffer from lag spikes, and hear your HDD being busy all the time without knowing wth is going on, it can be Windows trying to index your harddrive for Windows Search.
To disable this feature do the following:
1. Select start
2. In the search box type "Services" (without quotes)
3. Select and run Services
4. Look for a service called 'Windows Search'
5. Right click on Windows Search Service, select properties.
6. Click on 'boot type' and choose disabled.
7. Now right click on the service again, and choose Stop.
By doing this in reverse you can re-enable the service if wanted.

A funny thing: different boot screen
For an unknown reason, Microsoft has disabled the original boot screen, and replaced by a silly one. Lil note, for people with slower PC's, do not touch this, it increases boot time (for me it only does a little Razz but ill not make my e-willy grow in this thread so ill just shut up now).
How to make the 'Aurora' boot screen visible:
1. Select start
2. In the search box, type: "msconfig"
3. Select and run msconfig
4. Click the boot (or computer boot, not sure in english version) tab, and tick 'NoGUI boot'.
5. Apply and reboot your machine.
You now have a fully functional shiny aurora boot screen Razz To undo this, simply follow the steps again and untick the NoGUI boot box.

More to come, cba now, but I have lots of tips and tricks for you guys..

Thanks for sharing xGj, although I tried Vista ages ago, and didn't like it at all, looks great thats true, but I prefer compatibility and smoothness over looks.
