EDIT: NVM I fixxed the problem already.
Ty anywayz!
--- ---- --- ---
Ok here it is:
Steam told me to update my video drivers, because they were out of date.
Since I was foolish enough to think Valve/Steam was right, I downloaded the drivers (for my ATI Radeon X1900 series).
I went and have a CSS game wich went ok. I switched off PC and in the afternoon turned it back on (I always forget u have to reboot to have system changes take effect) So I tried to play CS:S. But only thing I got was: "Preparing to play Counterstrike" dialog box. But after that it quit on me.
So I figured it had to be the drivers. I tried disabling them (wich didnt work). Also windows has a build in program called "back roll" wich lets you downgrade to your previous driver. That didnt work either.
In the end I went to control panel => add/remove software en deleted everything ATI Radeon. I rebooted and the PC dowloaded the orginal drivers again. Another reboot and I could play CS:S again.
Point Being: Steam / Valve sux they LIE! and dont download the Catalyst 7.5 upgrade for you ATI Radeon X1900 series. It sux and doesnt cope with alot of games yet.
Hope this is usefull to someone out there!

Instead of deleting and wanting to delete your tread, then tell us about how you fixed it so it can help other ppl. |

Yeah it says that with me too,
But I clicked "never show this message again" and then "Continue anyway"
Still havent had problems yet. So I think it's ok.
Otherwise you wont be able to play at all. Atleast I wasn't. (It seems some people on the server were able to upgrade and play yesterday, dunno how tho).

Maybe it is a combination of my hardware + the driver then.
Dunno what it else could be.

steam is steam, and it aint a driver update program. Use the programs what they've been made for.....
if steam tells you to update your video driver while you dont have any problems you should never update them. This goes for all drivers..... only update them when you have problems... |
