Don't know if this has been this way from the start, but the way it is now, everytime you start your game cl_restrict_server_commands is automatically reset to "1". This means that certain things in our server (shortcuts to connect to teamspeak and servers, bomb timer sounds, etc) will not work.

You can fix this once and for all by following this guide. Once you have done this, you will not have to type cl_restrict_server_commands "0" into the console anymore (unless Valve change it obviously.)

Right click "My computer" on your desktop.
|LBTG| CS:S Clan Forum

In the window that opens up, click on the plusses next to "My computer" and then "Local Disk (C: )" (this might be D: or another drive for some) and scroll down until you see "Program Files". Click that directory once.
|LBTG| CS:S Clan Forum

Scroll down the list that appears, until you find "Steam". Click the plus next to it and then the plus next to "Steamapps" and then the one next to your username. You will see a directory called "cfg". Click that
|LBTG| CS:S Clan Forum

In the panel on the right, you will see a file called "config.cfg". Right click it and go to "open with" and then click "Choose program..."
|LBTG| CS:S Clan Forum

Select option "Select program from a list" and then click "Ok".
|LBTG| CS:S Clan Forum

From the list, select the program "Wordpad" and click "Ok"
|LBTG| CS:S Clan Forum

In the "wordpad" window, on a blank line under "unbindall" type in:
Code:
cl_restrict_server_commands "0"

Click on "File" and then "save".

That's it! You should now be able to use all the commands in our server.

Not working.. Only thing worked for me was to mark it as "Read Only". But it gives you problems ingame with changing name etc..

Hmm.. Thought this would work.. Sad Damned Valve..
Well, then it seems the only option is to do what bonsai says; Make the file read only.. Will add another screenshot of that for the people who would want to do that, when I get home.

Yea.. but then problem is! If you want to change name ingame you'll get a few problems because the file were all your configs.cfg's are in cannot be edited. Sometimes it changes name, other not. I did it once because i wanted to protect my self from that thing admins can do that they will change all your settings Smile

Not even working when I set it to read only... You can also try making an autoexec config file and put it in there.. that will do the trick I think

erm ... ? Whats the point of making an auto exec? When it's 100% same as the comfig.cfg which's allready there ;S ... Neutral

It's not 100% the same... CS:S will not edit an autoexec file cause its not a part of the game when you install it.. Like it says, it will auto execute commands you place in there, so even after CS:S has reset cl_restrict_server_commands 1 it will automatically set it to 0 again....

Then you have to bind a key to your autoexec.cfg?

I mean like, Bind "F5" "Autoexec.cfg" - then you have to push it ?

Nah that's actually a good idea, cause you can exec a file from config.cfg.. So maybe create a file called cl_restrict.cfg and put that one value in there. Then put a "exec cl_restrict.cfg" in the end of config.cfg.. That might work. Will try it later.. Smile

No... Auto execute means it will automatically do it once your application is loaded, the app here is CS:S. Once its loaded the file will automatically execute the commands within it. Ive created a blank config for you which you have to put in X:\Steam\SteamApps\Account_name\Counter-strike source\cstrike\cfg
Download the configuration file here: www.livebythegun.com/uploads/autoexec.cfg
Add cl_restrict_server_commands 0 in there
ATTENTION! If you have installed the config from the FPS tweaking News Article, do not install this blank .cfg, Just open the FPS tweaking autoexec.cfg and add the line somewhere were it fits Razz

And that works aswell I think :p
