News » nVidia 9xxx wave

A little while ago I stated in this article here nVidia had officially announced the 89xx DirectX 10 based cards. I think Ive done even a lower level of real investigation than Arnie does in Terminator at the time, because nVidia has no way even confirmed anything officialy yet, and most likely the 89xx cards arent even coming. See here my new article on the 9xxx series, which hopefully do come..
nVidia will use its new Core G92 technology for the next wave of cards. The next wave of cards will be entitled 9xxx, think of 9800GS, GT, GTX, Ultra etc.. you know it.
The G92 Core is supposed to deliver us around 1 Terraflop of processing power, in comparison: the current G80 Core (88xx series) used on the GTX (I guess its lower on the GTS) provides 330 Gigaflops, which means the G92 would be three times as powerful. I dont exactly know what all this power could be used for, as games like Crysis can even play fine on a 8800 GTS, but I guess thats future talk in uberhigh resolutions.
This was announced by Michael Hara from nVidia.
The 9xxx are supposed to ship in Novembre this year, which means nVidia is gonna change their schedule of releasing cards. High end cards are released first (as they make the most money out of them..) and mid range products are released several months later.
According to speculations the pricing of a GTX should be between 550 and 650 dollars, while a GTS will get in your rig for 400 to 450.
The G92 will be build on 65nm, which is smaller than the current 80nm. This allows for higher clock speeds.
The memory will be GDDR4, on a 512 bit interface, creating 1GB of GDDR4 on one card. It will support both DirectX 10.1 and OpenGL 3.0
