Quake Wars was developed by Splash Damage, in coorporation with Id Software. Splash Damage was born out of a mod team, which created the mod Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. With over 15 million downloads, it was one of the most popular free mods ever. Originally it was meant to be bought in the stores, but due to trouble the singleplayer was cut out of W:ET, and all that was left was one of the best multiplayer games ever. Still today people from all over the world play it.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars happens during a big war on earth, the Strogg, aliens, have landed on earth after they sorted out their own battles on their planet. But the humans wont give up the fight so easily, so pick a side and fight your way through. What seperates Quake Wars from all those other online shooters like Call of Duty and the Battlefield franchise? Well, this game is teambased. Yeah sure, you can join a squad in Battlefield, but teamplay is limited to capturing flags. Quake Wars however, is all about objectives. Your team wont win if you don't complete the objectives in a certain order. A major part in this are the different classes, like Medic and Engineers, they all have key roles in your teams victory, use them wisely. This should make the game way more teambased than any other shooter, and I guess that can make a whole lot of fun. Combine this with ofcourse awesome graphics and you have a great quality game.
Enemy Territory Quake wars will use a megatexture map, which means the developers create one super huge texture, create a heightmap, and paste it on the heightmap. This way, no tree or grass will ever look the same.

One of the most highly anticipated titles of 2007 will release its demo on the 10th of september. The game itself will be released on the 28th of september. It will be published by Activision and also released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later on.
